Built for the library
Convert a file or point flacser at a directory. Recursive discovery is there when your library runs deep.
Independent conversions run in parallel, with a worker limit you can set when you need to.
Recursive directory conversions preserve paths from your input root instead of making a mess of your collection.
flacser lets ffmpeg carry metadata where the output container supports it.
No surprises
Before conversion starts, flacser plans output paths and detects collisions. Outputs already present when their job starts are skipped.
Each conversion is atomical, it writes the concerted file only when ffmpeg succeeds. Source files are never modified.
Three formats, every direction
| Format | Read | Write | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| FLAC | Yes | Yes | Uses the FLAC encoder. |
| AIFF | Yes (.aiff, .aif) | Yes (.aiff) | PCM codec follows the source audio. |
| WAV | Yes | Yes | First audio stream only; cover art and non-audio streams are dropped. |
